Author Lacey is the founder of Mercy Beyond Borders, a U.S. nonprofit working with displaced women and girls in South Sudan. Noting that “in Africa, women hold up far more than half the sky,” Lacey devotes herself to raising awareness and resources for partnering with Sudanese women in grass-roots projects designed and implemented by the former refugee women themselves as a means of escaping extreme poverty. Mercy Beyond Borders is also supporting the education of 800 girls at St Bakhita School, Narus, Sudan.
